Mamma Mia!

I went to see Mamma Mia! last weekend. IT WAS FANTASTIC!! It was very bawdy and funny — the music was great and I wanted to sing along!!! I loved it!! I just got the soundtrack and my husband ran from the house when I started playing it. Abba is not his most favorite.

Next to last house

I finished my house for Rowyn’s RR.  We have one more house and then we are finished!  I can’t wait to get my neighborhood back!!  There was a piece of ribbon on the roof of Rowyn’s house in the picture.  I didn’t notice it until after I loaded the picture onto my computer and I am too lazy to go take another picture!

Just Six Words

I was just reading the Thread Gatherer newsletter for July and there was a very neat story that they picked up from Shirleys Cottage blog about Six Words. The story goes:

“Ernest Hemingway was asked to write a story in just six words. His reply he called his best work: “For Sale. Baby Shoes. Never Worn”. Quite a story is told in those six words.”

Right now my six are — Why stitch?  To keep my sanity!

Vacation and Paradigm Lost

Vacation began as it usually does — with a trip to the Boardwalk, and a little ICE CREAM!!! We had ice cream from Dumsers every day we were in Ocean City. Sometimes on the Boardwalk and sometimes we walked over to the Dumsers near where we were staying.

We spent alot of time on the beach during the day and in the evenings walking, fishing, and my beautiful boy and DH got to play a little catch. If you look close you can see the surgery scar. He spent the days with a surf shirt on so it was protected from the sun. This is a picture from a beach walk after dinner.

The weather was great! But the water was COLD!!!! We took a ride out to Assateague one morning and saw the ponies. It was pretty cool. We have been going to Ocean City for years and never taken the trip. Since we had 2 weeks this time around we had time to spare!

There were a few windy days. Here is a picture of a family that refused to abandon the beach and tried to protect themselves from the wind. We had already bailed by this time…

I did get a good shot of some pelicans flying by. I spent vacation figuring out my new camera.

Here is a picture of the kites flying near the Kite Loft.

Anyway — we had a great vacation. Boy gained 6 pounds in the 2 weeks we were in Ocean City. He is back to looking like himself. I drove the three of them crazy taking pictures — but I think I got a grip on the camera and I think I might have gotten a few good shots of them.

And — I finished Paradigm Lost while we were in Ocean City!!! WOO HOO!!!

Paradigm Lost FINISHED!!

Shores of Hawk Run Hollow and my son

I just love the Shores of Hawk Run Hollow!!!

I really love the far left square in the first row. The lighthouse is so cool. But to tell you the truth the whole piece is wonderful.

We are leaving for vacation!! YEA  We need the break.  The past 5 months have been terrifying.  Back in February my son’s back started to hurt and we went to the pediatrician, orthopedist, chiropractor, physical therapist.  The pain continued — then my husband came close to pitching a fit and said he wanted an MRI.  There was a shadow…. then another MRI (contrast/non-contrast) and a CT and they determined there was bone missing in his lower sacrum area (back by the tailbone) and there was a mass.  We marched off to the oncologist and scheduled a biopsy.  The needle biopsy was “non-diognostic” and the oncologist wanted to do an open biopsy.  So we did.  The tumor was benign.  The fist that had reached into my chest and grabbed my heart in February finally let go and I no longer spend my day at work with my door closed so people don’t see me crying.

My beautiful son has a 2 1/2 inch scar by his right hip now.  We are taking our first 2 week vacation ever — and man do we need it.

I thought alot about whether I should put this out here in my blog or not.  I know I really appreciate reading about everyone’s life on their blogs — the good and the bad.  I makes me feel closer to people out in the blogosphere.  I have also ripped my blog apart over the past 5 months.  I was so angry — I could not figure out what to do.  Then I decided to just focus on two things; my son and stitching a couple of special projects — my neighborhood RR’s and Paradigm Lost.

I stitched on PL while I was in the hospital with my son.  I got alot done — as you can see over the past several posts.

I can honestly say that stitching got me through the last 5 months.  My husband does not get it.  When I stitch there is just me and the needle the sound of the thread sliding through the fabric.  I don’t think about anything else AT ALL.  My mind goes blank and stops running 100 miles an hour.

My RR

Dani finished her square on my RR and it is wonderful!!  I am really over the moon about it.  If I had picked out something for her to stitch it would have been the piece she stiched!!!

Here is a picture of my RR as it is today.  Two more stops and it is back to me.  YEA!  The group RR is finishing up in October.
